The Green Bank Observatory is home to the 100 meter diameter Green Bank Telescope, the largest fully steerable radio telescope in the world. It is located in rural West Virginia where there are minimal radio transmissions to interfere with the operation of the telescope. I only have one photo from afar as electronic equipment must be turned off when approaching. There is a guided tour that gets fairly close to the huge structure and also passes by a number of smaller radio telescopes.

We were driving away from West Virginia along US-48 when we came across an incredibly beautiful fall view at a conveniently located scenic overlook!
