Baltimore Fleet Week Air Show (2018-10-06)
It was overcast skies and a reasonable temperature today for the air show component of Baltimore's Fleet Week. The air show took place over the water just south of Fort McHenry.
We arrived just before Geico's air show team began flying vintage WWII trainer aircraft. Sadly, the show did not include the Geico gecko parachuting out of an aircraft. Suggestion for a future show?
That was followed by a low and slow flyover by a C-17 out of Dover.
An A-10 then graced the skies, making multiple passes and performing some quick turns.
After the A-10, a Canadian Forces CF-18 took over, passing overhead multiple times both fast and slow.
Next, a single engine aircraft demonstrated some acrobatic maneuvers above the water.
The final act was supposed to be the Thunderbirds. Unfortunately, there were low ceilings at the time. One of the F-16s flew overhead to check out the weather to determine if there was adequate visibility and if the clouds were high enough. They needed a minimum ceiling of 2000 feet and 5 miles visibility. Unfortunately, the clouds were too low so the show was called off.
