Kapalua Bay Snorkeling
Due to the remnants of Hurricane Barbara, today wasn't forecast to be a good day for snorkeling due to waves and currents at most of the beaches on Maui. We decided to try Kapalua Bay as it is supposed to be generally calm, and had been reported as one of the best spots in the last few days. We went early to ensure we could secure a parking spot. It had been raining on and off on our drive over and it started to rain again when we arrived. It stopped after a few minutes and we finished the short walk to the beach. At that time, there were just two people snorkeling and one lady walking the beach picking up trash.
After we went in on the left side of the beach, the visibility was terrible. We swam over to the right side where it was much better! The water was pretty shallow and was fairly clear! We saw multiple humuhumunukunukuapua'a so I'd say we had a pretty good morning!
