Pa Ka'oao
Next to the summit visitor center at Haleakala is Pā Ka‘oao, a short trail up a small volcanic hill. The top offers one of the best easily accessible viewpoints in the park. There is a great view down into the eroded peak of Haleakala. The variety of terrain, the volcanic cones, as well as all the different colors make for quite an interesting scene! Also visible from atop this hill are Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on Big Island, west Maui and beyond, and the current summit of Haleakala!
