The aspen have just started to turn yellow in this section of the Rocky Mountains! There are a few patches of yellow here and there, and more that look like they're just about ready to go!

I had forgotten just how many aspen there are in the mountains around Steamboat Springs. They are everywhere! We were hoping some of them had started to change color for fall but unfortunately, most have not. Nature did, however, treat us to a spectacular rainbow while driving south in the late afternoon! This particular rainbow is extra special because supernumerary arcs are visible - the extra bands in the primary rainbow!
