While the names of some of the view points at the south rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park are not clear, Balanced Rock is pretty obvious. There is a giant rock, balanced on more rocks. It looks like if you gave it a good shove, or perhaps if there was a small earthquake, it would go tumbling down. That said, its not obvious until you are at the actual viewing platform as the Balanced Rock is only visible from there!
