We continued along the trail after passing by Dream Lake. The hike up has a few steep sections that are a little slippery when snow covered. Luckily, no ice was present.

I was surprised when we reached Emerald Lake - it was calm! Every time I have been to this location, it has been extremely windy. Today, there was almost no wind at all! Also surprising was that the lake surface was not frozen like the lower altitude lakes along the trail. Unfortunately, we could barely make out the peaks that surround the lake. They normally tower over the far side of the lake but today there were barely visible in the snow.
