I was happy to be able to buy tickets to Alcatraz a few days in advance - the last time I tried, it was sold out well in advance. And it turned out to be a great day to be out on the island! There have been some improvements since the last time I was there - parts of the prison building are being gradually restored. And the Agave Trail, which runs along the water's edge facing the city, was open.
