Obertrübsee, Titlis
Half way around Trübsee lake, there is a junction - keep on going around the lake or take a different path somewhere. I took the other path - it looked like on my map that it would go past some sort of structure before eventually reaching a chairlift or gondola.
The path ascended steeply for a short section before gradually heading down hill. The trail wasn't heavily trafficked, only a few people's footprints were visible, but it was marked with tall colored markers. Eventually, I reached a point where the markers stopped. It looked like a few others kept going so I kept going.
I started to see the top of a lift tower and eventually I saw some other slightly different markers. There also appeared to be wire fencing of some sort on the ground - the fence posts were in the ground but the wire was all removed though lying in the snow. Seemed a bit odd. I headed to the tower and saw a magnificent sight down below - a cloudless valley with some houses and a little lake!
The lift above me was idle but it suddenly started making noise and the cable started moving. I saw a little tiny gondola go down and later on another one came up with a guy in it. Luckily, it wasn't the Swiss Army looking for me with a tiny little knife! Throughout my entire little side journey, I only saw one solo traveler and 2 small groups of people. Definitely the path less traveled!
