Schloss Rapperswil
I wasn't sure what I was going to do today as I had finished the things that I had planned already. The one thing I didn't plan to do but wanted to do was to see a schloss, or castle. So I went to Rapperswil, a town on Lake Zurich that has a schloss dating back to the 14th century. The castle is built atop a hill which affords a commanding view of the town of Rapperswil and the surrounding lake.
In addition to the castle, there is a church atop the hill. The church and its small adjacent chapel are both open for viewing.
The castle itself currently houses a Polish museum. In the 19th century, a Polish count leased the castle and repaired it using his own money and created the museum inside. The museum is currently closed on weekdays for winter so I didn't get to take a look inside. I'm not sure how much of the original interior is visible from the museum.
