Waimangu Volcanic Valley - a thermal area just south of Rotorua. Unfortunately, I had to rush through the place as it closes pretty early like most attractions here. The path goes 4km down into a valley and ends at a large lake where there is a boat tour - I made it just in time for the last one. There were two terraces here, white and pink, but they were destroyed in the 1886 volcano eruption which created the lake. After the boat tour, there is a bus ride back up to the entrance.
