The Botero museum houses many pieces by Fernando Botero, Colombia's most famous artist. Botero is famous for his style of large, rounded figures. His style extends beyond depictions of people as you can see it in his still lifes as well as sculptures of animals. While the focus of the museum is of Botero's art, it also contains pieces by various well known artists.

The pieces in the museum were donated by Botero to the Bank of the Republic which operates the museum in a historic colonial mansion. It is part of a larger museum complex which includes a currency museum as well as an additional art collection.
